Aaron Segal is a Board Certified Family Medicine physician residing in Denver, CO. He cared for patients in a three physician family-owned clinic from 2005 to 2012. During that time, Dr. Segal's scope of care included newborns, children and adolescents, and adult medicine. In addition to preventive, acute, and chronic disease management, Dr. Segal also enjoyed clinical procedures such as skin biopsies, suturing of wounds, and joint injections.
Dr. Segal is a degreed Computer Scientist with experience managing small office networks, SQL databases, Windows servers, and electronic medical records. He is a proficient coder, and has written proprietary software for several managed care organizations and health systems .
From 2012-2015, Dr. Segal served as an Inpatient Care Medical Director at UnitedHealthcare Clinical Services. He has written proprietary software for UnitedHealthcare to assist with bed-day management, documentation compliance, and workflow improvement.
Dr. Segal later served as Executive Vice President of Clinical Operations for CenseoHealth in Dallas, and worked closely with leadership in the clinical, technology, and strategic arms of the company. CenseoHealth chiefly deploys physicians across the country to conduct in-home assessments for risk-adjustment, HEDIS, case management, and chart reconciliation. Paired with Chief Medical Offer, Dr. Mark Dambro, Dr. Segal worked to enhance clinical quality standards, improve the use of mobile software, and to help explore new lines of business for Censeo's expansive physician network.
Late 2016, Dr. Segal relocated to Denver to join Davita Medical Group as VP and National Medical Director overseeing clinical audits and analytics for the national CHAPs team. CHAPs encompasses patient engagement, clinical support, documentation, coding, and clinical analytics for Davita's multistate medical group.
Dr. Segal is currently the Senior Medical Director at CommunityCare, a Tulsa-based statewide health plan including POS, HMO, and managed Medicare members throughout Oklahoma. He has served at CommunityCare since 2018 and has been the senior-most clinical leader since early 2024. This is a remote position, and Dr. Segal still resides in Denver. In additional to overseeing utilization management, Dr. Segal participates in Appeals, Grievances,. He chairs the Quality Improvement Committee, and also functions as the company's primary clinical advisor supporting multiple departments and projects through the organization. Dr. Segal is responsible for developing clinical policies.
Outside of work, Aaron is a father of three grown children (teenage to young adult). He is a polyinstrumental musician, singer, and songwriter, performing live music regularly. He enjoys all-season outdoor activities including camping, hiking, biking, skiing, and stand-up paddleboarding. He is a talented chef, a woodworker, and an advocate for social justice.
